Jaworski Obit Pix

Irena Jaworski, a longtime Lake
Arrowhead
resident,
passed away peacefully on May
14, 2010
.  She was born on February
25, 1930
in Swierszczyn,
Poland

In 1940, at the age of 10, during the annexation of Eastern
Poland
, the Russians invaded the village in which she lived and
deported her family to the Soviet labor camps in Siberia
She and her family would be moved from Siberia
to Iran
and then to India
In 1943, as a Polish refugee, she was sent to the Koja settlement in Uganda,
East Africa, where she lived for the next
five years.  After WWII, her family made its way to England
where they remained in exile.  Irena lived in Coventry,
England
and in
1951 married Stefan, her husband of 54 years and where her two daughters were
born.

In 1962, Irena immigrated to the United
States
with her children and reunited with her
husband who had immigrated six months prior.  The family settled in Hollywood,
California
and, in 1964, Irena,
her husband and daughters proudly became US citizens. In Hollywood,
she would begin her banking career with Bank of America at their central cash
vault in Los Angeles
In 1980, Irena and her husband moved to Lake
Arrowhead
and she
transferred to the Bank of America as their merchant teller when the branch
re-opened in the new Lake
Arrowhead Village

After a ‘forced’ retirement, she would work for Vineyard Bank in both Crestline
and Lake Arrowhead,
where she continued to work until two years prior to her passing when her
health began to fail her.

Her husband Stefan Jaworski preceded her in death in
2006.  Irena is survived by her daughter Bo Spencer of Lake
Arrowhead
, CA
and
daughter and son-in law Stella and Douglas MacKay of Carmichael,
CA
and her grandchildren Brittan
Spencer of Lake Arrowhead, CA and Matthew, Kirsten, Kendall and Michael MacKay
of Carmichael, CA
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at 12:00 pm at Our Lady
of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Arrowhead, CA.
