I received a lovely invitation to help from Georgia Stampin' Up! demonstrator Katie Burke, who I met on our southern Caribbean cruise last April. I won't paraphrase as Katie says it best but perhaps you would like to help in some way? Here's what Katie is doing in loving memory of her deceased father:

"Daddy's Dreams was founded in memory of my Dad, Dennis Carter, who passed away at the age of 61 from Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) in September 2009 after a long and brave battle with the disease.  Daddy's Dreams volunteers and supporters are dedicated to being a source of strength for patients with "Works of Heart," "Happy Hats," and "Cards for Cancer Patients."  Hoping you might consider volunteering your time or resources – or just sending in a few cards, crochet/knit caps, or fabric remnants, etc. (pre-cut scallop square cotton or flannel fabrics would be awesome too!!).  Please know that 100% of the items donated go directly to making the difficult process of treatment just a little easier for those who need it.

Any help is appreciated.  Even if individuals are only able to do just a little, it would all add up to something wonderful!!!   Since August 2010, Daddy's Dreams volunteers have created 6 quilts (2 for adults and 4 for children) with cancer and donated them.  The quilts were made with all donated materials as well.  It has been a WONDERFUL experience.  I am going to post a rag quilt tutorial as soon as I can get one together, but know that I am also accepted handmade quilt (new only – for health reasons with patients having low immunity on chemo) donations as well."
