I was at a luncheon for a philanthropic organization yesterday and a fellow member did a presentation on helping others. She used this quote by Warren Buffett that applied to everyone in the room and to anyone reading this (if you have a computer, trust me, you are in the 1%).
“If you’re in the luckiest 1 per cent of humanity, you owe it to the rest of humanity to think about the other 99 per cent.”
That's part of why my Stampin' Up! team is called Stampers for Others. No matter the vehicle, I feel we all owe it to one another in this world to do what we can to help someone. So if it's via a handmade card then that's better than doing nothin'!
To that end, 10 demonstrators gathered this week to celebrate the holidays in lieu of our monthly meeting. We had dinner at my house, made 3 Make N Take's and just gabbed with no business talk! Initially we had thought of having a gift exchange but as it came closer to organizing the gathering, it just nagged at me about that gift exchange. So, instead, I suggested we bring donations for a women's and children's shelter in our community. That idea was met very positively and I was so grateful for that. I just put all the demonstrator donations on my dining room table to take a photo. We used the shelter's wish list as our individual guide. We did great. I'm so proud of our monthly group!
I challenge anyone reading this to do whatever you can do, in your community, to lend a kind hand to someone especially at this holiday season.
